Two questions from last night's games
Oracle of the Void #rules
Messages from the Oracle of the Void #rules Discord channel, copied for Oracle of the Void. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings and the rulebooks may differ.
If you are the defender can you use Coward! to move your own personality into the battle?
Can you use Final Sacrifice to change target of opponent's beneficial Action to your Yojimbo? Let's say redirect Breaking the Rhythm from opponent's character to your own Yojimbo?
yes
we were 90% on "yes" on both counts but wanted to make sure
Yes.
thank you
Anyway FS got technical errata
and i hope you play with 20F Rules, not Ivory. As during Ivory you even didnt have to target while announcing action so all Interrupts were played before you even knew what is going to be targeted. It was changed with 20F.
Whether your Yojimbo is a legal target for the action is key here, and would/should be assessed case by case.
we thought we are playing ivory, but apparently we played that wrong sice many years. we thought that you announce targets right away as is in other CCGs -_-
thanks guys, much appreciated
In the case of Breaking the Rhythm, any Personality is legal, so as long as your Yojimbo is a Personality, you can change the target to them.
great!
20F is second part of Ivory and thankfully they changed it at some point.
Ivory introduced a lot of changes, and in this case, moving targeting to fall fully within effects was so bad it had to be undone in 20F.
yeah, but we never got our hands on 20F cards
but have a TON of Ivory through the New Order so that's what we've been playing for past 10 years
Even with such cards i suggest to use 20F Comprehensive Rules
makes sense, that's so counterintuitive to choose targets later
As cards since base Ivory were also part of 20F Arc
at least those with blue kanji
yeah, we reference comprehensive rules 20F whenever questions arise, but i guess we never read them cover to cover
much appreciated guys, as always. I'll be back with more questions in a month when we get together to play again đ
Hello! sorry first time here, long time fan of Oracle, used heavily on and off since its inception (when it was linked to your herald ID!), sorry if I get a bit ramble-y (I am a bit nervous in groups), but I do have a very specific, possibly not even, like ⌠ârealâ question? But itâs been killing me and I know I went through this way back when I started (like a month before Soul of the Empire, 11 years old!) and I even kind of remember there once maybe being an errata reference to this on Oracle(?), but I canât for the life of me remember why and I see no rulings or discussion on it anywhere (I doubt itâs a thing for anyone else honestly), so I spent all last night pouring over this entire channelâs history (great read, I feel like I missed out!) and didnât see it, so ⌠Togashi Mitsu, his basic âload me up with up to 5 +1/+1 fire tokensâ ⌠was there ever some ruling about not being able to remove them except via his text about â⌠instead of via straightening at the beginning of your turn âŚâ ? Because when I was 11, a shocking 28 years go (god I feel old, nor can I believe I was that young), I recall having a very confused discussion with my veteran NE play group âway back whenâ about why (of all things, remember, 11) âThe Laughing Monkâ apparently couldnât remove his tokens. I see no reason why now, but I kinda remember maybe once seeing reference to errata? And as I see much better cards than Mr. Monk like Th Path to Inner Peace and The Purity of Shinsei, I can understand why they might do so. But I just feel a need for certainty. And my group def wasnât teasing me for being young, they were insanely helpful and kind, love them to death, hence ⌠going a bit mad last night lol
Yeah, I see no reason nor can recall any Ruling that would prevent the Monk from removing Mitsu's tokens. I think it's possible/likely that your playgroup just misunderstood the application of a related Ruling, as there were a lot surrounding Mitsu. For example, his tokens were removed by attempting to straighten him during the straighten phase only, not if you used other means to straighten him at another time. Perhaps they thought this prohibition broadly applied to any attempt to remove the tokens, when it in fact was just specifying/clarifying the circumstances of their normal removal trigger?
Itâs too long ago for me to remember lol, but it makes as much sense as anything, I doubt anybody was paying attention to any of the cards I was looking and the card in question was already old by then at that (though we had a bunch who played from day one). Doesnât matter, the answer makes me happy regardless! âYes, and âŚâ is usually more fun than âBut, no âŚâ and Iâm just kinda fooling around with ideas
Thank you very much for taking the time to read my question ^^; And for continuing to keep Oracle going all these years, itâs meant a lot to me!
