Oracle of the Void #l5r
Messages from the Oracle of the Void #l5r Discord channel, copied for Oracle of the Void. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings and the rulebooks may differ.

I don't know if this is on my end, but it looks like there's something broken in the Void.
hmm
looks like the elasticsearch indexes broke... i have to rebuild them
Rebuild?
Can you copy/paste it from an old version. "Rebuild" sounds bad.
all the data is there in the raw form. have to force it to remake the indexes.
shouldn't take too long
rebuilding now
done
Weird that the indices blew up. What version/flavour of Elasticsearch?
aws managed service.
technically.. the entire elasticsearch dropped all data
so it's recreate indices and repop from dynamodb (my backing store)
but yeah, no update notification or anything, so not sure what happened.
I'm fairly sure it's because I'm running a one node cluster. If the host it's on dies, it can't recover.
Weird. Might be how AWS does it. I've run lots of ELKs single-node.
Yeah I think they pretty much assume you run at Three nodes.
I might move it to a regular ec2 instance instead of their managed service but it is nice not to have to do patching
Yeah, the patching is a pain. As is the clustering. I've run small (read: ~ten nodes) clusters, and it gets painful quickly.
Yeah I have some I run for my day job and don't want my hobby to become actual work
Hah. I so hear you on that one.
_goes to update the home Palo Altos._

[Hoseki · Issue #89 · Oracle-of-the-Void/ootv-client]
As I recall this is on purpose as if it's Ninja, it's not unaligned (although it would be unaligned playing in newer formats where Ninja isn't a clan). @Brook Cunningham I'm not sure where templating on that was at in the current snapshot of time.
Well, at some point that I'm forgetting off the top of my head, "Unaligned" stopped being printed on the cards and simply became a defined game term "has no Clan Alignment". Oracle rewordings are for most-current templating, but from a Rules standpoint that every card/Clan is legal (because every card is reworded), so by that definition, Hoseki is not Unaligned because she's Ninja. It was also my intent, based on the latest definition of "Unaligned", to remove the printed "Unaligned" keyword retroactively entirely, because of the dumb existent paradox of "[Printed] Unaligned * Toturi's Army/Ninja" cards (and some of the TA ones are inconsistent in this regard to boot). Research showed a very few cards actually cared about looking for printed Unaligned, so the loss of classic interactions (and I even have rewords to preserve what interactions I could with the specific cards that cared, like Takuan Technique) was small compared to the benefit of consistency in the term, if that makes sense?
gotcha
Wheee... closed like 1/3 of the open issues... amazing how a working editor helps you like... edit stuff 🙂
