@Brook Cunningham Tournie game. Are created cards fate and dynasty cards... IE if I make a follower is it considered a fate card?

Brook Cunningham (rules official), 13 May 2026 22:13 · in reply

Yes.

A player, 13 May 2026 22:13

A player, 13 May 2026 22:14

Zero.

A player, 18 May 2026 01:57

Brook Cunningham (rules official), 18 May 2026 01:57

Dishonor = 0

A player, 18 May 2026 01:58

Tournie question, this card has a trait granting a character tactician, if someone VTDs the keyword tactician, what happens? since the spell is a trait

@Brook Cunningham

Brook Cunningham (rules official), 20 May 2026 23:54 · in reply

It will remove the keyword.

A player, 20 May 2026 23:59

That needs to get some clarity... since the trait is "while they are water" so it continuosly checks that

Brook Cunningham (rules official), 21 May 2026 00:03 · in reply

Continuous effects are still susceptible to suppression. They don't trump ongoing effects just because they have a longer/different duration.

I think you may be confusing the keyword removal with an instant effect, which only happens once instantly, then is done and has no duration, but it is not.

A player, 21 May 2026 00:12

The problem is that it's a continuous effect on a spell, that is always checking, and then the VTD targets the personality, so the issue is that since a trait is a continuous effect, and the trait specifically says "while they are water" it is constantly checking... so unless there is some rule that dictates the trait stops checking or something I would think it would continue to check the water attribute.

Its just quite confusing due to it being a trait on a completely different card than the card being targeted.

A player, 21 May 2026 00:13

But that was my assumption was that it could be turned off. Its just a weird interaction.

Brook Cunningham (rules official), 21 May 2026 00:18

While it is continuous, new effects can be applied during that duration. The trait is giving the same instance of Tactician throughout the duration of "while they are water". If you remove the keyword with another effect, that removes that instance of the keyword. The continuous duration hasn't ended, because they still have the Spell and are still Water, they just no longer have the keyword for the duration of the suppression effect.

A player, 21 May 2026 00:18

Can a character have more than one instance of a keyword?

Brook Cunningham (rules official), 21 May 2026 00:19 · in reply

No. Trying to give a keyword to a card that already has it simply fails.

A player, 21 May 2026 00:20

What if they dont have it because of VTD and then would gain it again?

A player, 21 May 2026 00:20

but can I remove a keyword and he gets a second instance that gives

Brook Cunningham (rules official), 21 May 2026 00:20 · in reply

That would work, yep.

A player, 21 May 2026 00:20

do that mean he have that keyword again?

A player, 21 May 2026 00:21

So... with the spell... VTD turns off tactician on the personality only... not the spell... so the spell would grant it to them again?

A player, 21 May 2026 00:21

thats what Im saying

A player, 21 May 2026 00:23

Effectively making the spell a perpetual motion effect making it impossible to turn off their tactician until the spell is removed.

A player, 21 May 2026 00:23

lol

A player, 21 May 2026 00:23

but I dont think it would be good if that worked like that, Id should work like keyword not like keyword on steroids.

Brook Cunningham (rules official), 21 May 2026 00:23 · in reply

No. The one on the Personality is the one from the Spell. VtD is effectively affecting both of them.

A player, 21 May 2026 00:24

it doesn't say it is effecting the spell... just the granted keyword... but yeah... constant checking traits I think need some clarity.

At the moment it's quite confusing due to the nature of Traits.

A player, 21 May 2026 00:25

like... I would understand if an action granted the keyword... like daughter's of mara granting cavalry.

A player, 21 May 2026 00:25

then you just nix the keyword

Brook Cunningham (rules official), 21 May 2026 00:29 · in reply

Perhaps don't think of them as "constantly checking" but "on" or "off". It's "on" while attached and the Shugenja is Water, it's "off" when not. So, VtD is like a different lightswitch in the house that controls the same light. It turns the light "off", but even though the trait "lightswitch" is still in the "on" position, the "light" is now "off".

A player, 21 May 2026 00:31

Good analogy!

A player, 22 May 2026 13:56

Just looking to clarify - is an effect like this on Millet Farm only for the current turn? Some other holdings specify it is but some, like this one, don't.

A player, 22 May 2026 13:57

By default effects last until the end of the turn. If it doesn't say then that is the duration.

A player, 22 May 2026 13:57

All right, thanks - that's what I figured but when there was other cards that did specify which is what brought up the confusion.

A player, 22 May 2026 13:58

Specifying a duration is the exception

A player, 22 May 2026 14:00

But with an effect that grants a +1GP wealth token, that token stays indefinitely?

A player, 22 May 2026 14:00

Yes

A player, 22 May 2026 14:01

Thank you! Catching up as it's been a long, long time since I played the CCG and playing some games against myself. Just want to make sure I'm interpreting things correct before I play a real game.

Brook Cunningham (rules official), 22 May 2026 14:01

Ongoing effects last by default until the end of the turn. Creating something (like a token) is an instant effect and so has no fixed duration.

A player, 28 May 2026 16:49

Do these 2 cards work together, or does the action need to be printed on the paragon card?

[attachment: image.png] [attachment: image.png]
Brook Cunningham (rules official), 28 May 2026 16:52 · in reply

They work together.

A player, 28 May 2026 16:52

Interesting.

A player, 28 May 2026 17:09

It still doesn't kill through followers for the 2nd action. The fear can still destroy followers via the jnterrupt

A player, 28 May 2026 20:19 · in reply

I just meant that the way it reads it feels like it could need to come from the paragon itself. But I was asking because the second action is targeting the paragon and doing a fear effect "through" him

A player, 28 May 2026 20:19

it is just weirdly worded so I wasn't sure
