Your Rules for Wednesday, July 28, 2004
Prayers and Blessings
Do you bring back Prayers and Blessing into your hand before or after discarding cards to keep only 8 ?
You have to Discard down to 8 before you can go to the end of your turn. Prayers and Blessings comes back to your hand at the end of the turn, consequently always after you've already done your discard for the turn.
Timing of action cards
I am given to understand that Action cards enter play for a brief moment while they are being played.
When does this happen?
I'd love to know the answer to that question too. Forwarded to Jeff.
Sacrificing
Suiteru no Oni can sacrifice himself to make follower tokens on other personalities, right?
Sure. Destroying the source or Performing card(s) of an Action does not stop the Action.
Also, if you use Suiteru no Oni in a battle, then you either need to be sacrificing the Suiteru that's in the battle or you need to put at least one follower token on a personality that is in that battle. Is that also true?
Well, you could also have Suiteiru no Oni at the battle itself. At that point you could sacrifice any Personality and put the Tokens anywhere. Since you are use the ability on the card in the current battle, you automatically fulfill Relevance no matter what else you target.
Rules Question
I have Schmoe1 on the table(2ph, 3chi). I also have Ki-Rin's Shrine non-experienced. My opponent dishonors Schmoe1, then plays Force of Will on Schmoe1.
What happens?
Your Personality gets +3 Personal Honor (3Chi - 0PH = 3) and -3 Chi (0PH - 3Chi). The bonus to Personal Honor fails to change the Personality's current Personal Honor since Dishonored Personalities always have 0 PH regardless of bonuses or penalties. Since the Personality has 0PH, Ki-Rin's Shrine won't prevent his Chi from dropping to 0 as well, causing the Rulebook to destroy him.
Rules: Bowing units as a cost
When a card calls upon you to bow a unit as a cost, such as Invasion (Battle: Bow one of your Cavalry or Naval units to send home an opposing non-Naval Infantry unit.), does every card in the unit need to be unbowed,
Yes, otherwise you can't pay the cost. A Unit is defined as a Personality and all his attached cards. If you destroy, bow, or otherwise manipulate a unit, you do so to all the cards making up that unit. If some cards in the unit are already bowed, then you can't pay the cost of bowing with them, and thusly can not bow the unit to pay such a cost. In the same respect, failing to destroy a card in a unit when trying to pay a cost of destroying a unit likewise leaves the cost unpaid. I advise against Trying to "To Do What We Must" with Hantei the 39th, for example.
That should be everything for Wednesday. If I missed your non-Wrath question, please repost it with the flag [RULES] in the subject line and I'll get back to you at the first opportunity.
