Follow up question from Your Rules for Thursday, May 27. 2004
Okay, how does the +3F interact with a Wedge?
Nothing special. Heart of the Hero isn't a conflicting bonus, but a modification of Wedge's own bonus effect. It now gives a bonus sufficient to raise your force to 2X + 3 where X was your original force.
What about if there is a follower or two on the unit?
Same goes for the followers: make Force = 2X + 3.
Or, to raise a horrible specter, what if the follower is a Political Adjunct?
Same as normal Wedge + Political Adjunct. Player chooses the order of the improved Wedge bonuses to their cards.
Silly events (or, Trying to hurt Marty Lund's brain... it's fun!)
Player A is doing corrupt Crane with Pulse of the Black River active and an Ashura attacking Player B's province, or ambushing, or whatever.
Player B is also doing the corruption love with a Voitagi with Bloodstained Peasents attatched (5 force Unit).
Player A has Ashura "do what he must" and blows him up (with To Do What we Must). Ashura's trait kicks in and destroys Bloodstained Peasents (or some other legal target... I think), then TDWWM resolves to kill the remaining Voitagi...
The question is, how much Honor does Player A get from Pulse?
4 Honor. He destroyed Ashura and Voitagi with an Action.
Non-question Cloak of Night Notes
Side note: you can use Cloak of Night to attach a shamesword (or the Yobinjin Wyrm) and not have the personality dishonored as a result. I'm sure this is too combo-rific for most players to consider for serious play, but it's funny to think about.
I believe the Wyrm's effects would still trigger. Cloak of Night says that you reveal the card and "bring it into play," discard it if it isn't a legal attachment, and otherwise it "enters play without cost."
None of those things prevents the Wyrm from dishonoring you and causing an honor loss. The fact that you don't bring the card into play from your hand stifles the Scimitar, though.
A question about Shinjo Shono
I have a question about Shinjo Shono Exp2. Since his text says "move to a different Province", can his ability be used to move into the current battle from another, or does the "different" means "different from the current battle", which means his ability can only be used to move him from the current battle to another ?
It is unspecified, so I'd say the default reference is to the battle when Shono (the Performing Personality) currently is.
Rules Question (Marty)
Timing question for you; Do you declare the strength of a ranged attack with Kuro's Fire before, after or when you declare the target of the ranged attack (or, more importantly, if the attack is re-directed can you choose to alter the strength after the redirection)?
The initial Strength gets set at Declaration, before selecting targets. Redirection won't give you an opportunity to alter the declared strength.
That should cover Monday. If I missed your question, please repost it with the flag [RULES] in the subject line and I'll get back to you at the first opportunity.
