Balance in Nothingness vs Desperate Wager

Would BiN negate DW? It calls for the straitening of all of your units including those who are restricted, which would make it an action which targets one or more of your bowed personalities.

How do you figure? At what point does it target? It isn't like you get any choice about which cards unbow. It takes all of one group of cards. It does not target them because it does not make you choose between one thing and another.

Read page 72 of the Diamond Edition Rulebook. Actions and Effect that can never make you choose don't target.

Wedge+Explored Territory

Can Explored Territory save your personality from being destroyed by Wedge?

It depends. You need to still be in the battle for Explored Territory to save you.

You have to send Attacking and Allied units go home after the battle is "resolved" (losing / tied armies are destroyed, honor gained), but before the battle is considered "ended." Then Wedge will destroy your unit.

If you were in the Defending Army, and there are still more battles to resolve, then you'd be fine since you are still at the (resolved) battle. Explored Territory would save you since Wedge kills your "when" the battle ends, and terrains are destroyed "after" the battle ends.

Forgotten Lesson

Just a (not so) "quick snap" question, how can one use Forgotten Lesson to achieve an honor victory prevented by Kaede Sensei or Shoju Sensei? Say that I am at 54 honor at the start of my opponent's turn, and he has used Shoju Sensei to prevent an honor victory. I would achieve an honor victory if the Sensei's ability was prevented at the start of my events phase correct? And an Open action that lasts until the end of the turn can never have effect during the events phase right? So how does this work?

Forgotten Lesson says, "Open: Target a sensei card. The card does not affect play until the end of the turn."

It will expire at the end of the turn it is played. It won't be in effect at the beginning of the next turn, so you can't use it to sneak in an honor-victory.

Just get yourself a copy of Dashmar nonexp. if you want to win due to having high honor and still play Kaede Sensei. :)

Stone Breaker and the Refuge of the Three Sisters

Crane player with a Refuge in play uses Show of Good Faith on the Rat's Stone Breaker. Can the Stone Breaker get sacked to the Refuge?

Sure. Nothing prevents you from sacrificing Stone Breaker as a cost. You don't have any problems with illegal targets because searching doesn't target anything you find. Prior precedent says that you can search when instructed, regardless of whether or not you can successfully find anything (Isawa Taeruko, Regions of Rokugan, etc.).

Kenson Gakka+moment of brilliance

One post is quite sufficient there, my friend. No need for half a dozen.

Anyway, if you get the Tactician Trait from a source other than Kenson Gakka, Kenson Gakka's requirements for affecting your personality are no longer met. It will neither give you the Tactician trait, nor restrict you from gaining Force Bonuses via Tactical Actions.

Overconfidence

My opponent plays a Dai Tsuchi in Hida Tenshu. I can use overconfidence on him at this moment???

Yes. He's gaining a Force Bonus (+3) greater than his printed Chi (1).

That looks like it covers everything from Friday that wasn't handled in-thread. If I missed your question from this day, please repost it with the flag [RULES] in the subject line. I'll get back to you at the first opportunity.
