Rules for 4 October 2003

Zen Faulkes, sent 4 October 2003 to the l5r-ccg mailing list, the l5r-useful list

A rules digest from the L5R CCG rules team, copied from the mailing list archive for Oracle of the Void. The askers' names are left out. Rulings are as they stood on this date; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Greetings,

Tsurayuki and Tokens

Tsurayuki states that it will not attach cards however it says nothing about tokens. Being that follower tokens cannot attach because they count as cards and a rulebook effect I see no problems. I am also assuming (along with similar lines) that you could attach weapons or for that matter any other token to her since they aren't cards.

Correct on all counts.

So if I use Castle of the Wasp with Nobomoto's Ranged Attack, it doesn't happen?

Sure it does; it's specifically written to waive costs. Also, remember that "sent home bowed" is normally *one* effect (Rules Archive, General Rules, Battle), so House of the First Stone keys to that joint effect only, not to any action where both bowing and going home occur in some way.

unrequited love

What happens when you target a shadowlands players' personality with: unrequited love, stern repremand, etal.

Any player may choose any option (precedent: Writ of Peace), provided that option doesn't have Honor loss as a cost.

Shiryo no toshimoko

If a personality has shiryo no toshimoko attached and they destroy an opposing personality in a duel can the other player play feign death.

No (Rules Archive, General Rules, Duels).

Stern Reprimand

Can you use Stern Reprimand to target a follower token?

Yes (card text).

Can the target's controller choose to take the token into his/her hand?

No.

Wouldn't this interpretation of the rules make By Steel Redeemed effectively useless?

Not at all. "As if a samurai" means that it follows the rules for samurai seppuku allowed in the rulebook.
