Rules for 19 September 2003, Part 2
A rules digest from the L5R CCG rules team, copied from the mailing list archive for Oracle of the Void. The askers' names are left out. Rulings are as they stood on this date; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.
Greetings,
Rules for 18 September 2003, Part 2
Waouh... I didn't notice on the spoiler that wedge was not a powerful card anymore.
You'll notice that I said in my ruling, "Currently," as in, "Given how the cards are worded now." Not Diamond. In other words, this is nothing new.
Ranged attack clarifications
Does No Hiding Place allow targeting of a [Personality] even with followers?
No (Gold Edition rulebook, pg. 63).
from exactly one of your attacking cards...is the attack eligible to be pumped up with Tsuruchi/Arrows...Woods since they are reactions, not attacking cards?
Yes. See Rules Archive, General Rules, Ranged Attacks.
If a player has two [Arrows from the Woods / Tsuruchi Technique] in their hand, can they play one to generate a ranged attack, then pump it up with the other (or not, since the ranged attack didn't come from a unit)?
No, for the reason you state.
No Hiding Place--can it be used from Tsuruchi/Arrows (are they 'attacking' cards)?
No.
Taut bowstring question
can the 2nd reaction on it be used by any card that has a range attack?
Yes.
would latomu be able to do a range 4 attack on a card leaving the battle?
Yes.
Kakita Mai xp
What if I target a shadowlands player's personality ? Can the challenge be refused ?
As Jeff said: No. Honor loss in that case is a cost.
Rules for 18 September 2003, Part 2
As you can clearly see, the order of the effects "unit is destroyed" and "cards in unit can be targetted again" is clearly reversed between the two versions.
The order those happen to be written on the card is irrelevent in this case.
Both versions (as quoted) forbid targeting the unit "in this battle" / "until after the battle ends." The issue is whether those phrases both prevent actions occurring in the Resolution Segment -- which they both do.
People who have been using Feign Death on units targeted by Wedge in the past have made a mistake. Easy one to make, especially given how favourable that mistake is to the person playing it.
