Rules for 18 September 2003
A rules digest from the L5R CCG rules team, copied from the mailing list archive for Oracle of the Void. The askers' names are left out. Rulings are as they stood on this date; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.
Greetings,
Rules for 17 September 2003, Part 2
No. Cards can be bowed, and Strongholds can be bowed (Gold Edition rulebook, pg. 24). Token followers can be bowed, because they are cards (Gold Editon rulebook, pg. 40). No other tokens can be bowed.
From where do you draw this ruling?
From those sections of the Gold Edition rulebook. From past rulings (followers tokens became cards so that they *could* bow). From me excerising my power as Deputy Rules Guy.
Political entanglements says it reduces all printed numerals on a card by one, does this affect chi and force as well??
Yes (card text).
Rules Questions
I apologize beforehand because I know that some of these have been answered before.
No need to apologize; just ask your questions.
Yu - is used before armies are destroyed, correct? Can it save a province?
No. Yu "does not alter the outcome of the battle" (Winds of Change rulesheet).
Blade of Truths - If I name 0, can Let Your Spirit Guide You be played?
No (Rules Archive, General Rules, Duels).
If I name (whatever The World is Empty's focus is) can the opponent still play it and opt to change the focus or does the Blade determine prior to their focusing that it cannot be used?
The World is Empty cannot be used because it is focused first as a cost for its effect (card text).
Rules for 17 September 2003, Part 2
Remember Jeff's word is normally law. Although he did cite page 24, I don't see page 24 as saying only cards and strongholds can bow.
Just to be clear, Jeff A. ain't involved in this discussion yet -- just me. My word isn't law; it's more like a friendly advice. ;)
rules Q
Does spearhead target the unit/personality?
Currently, yes.
Can I play spear head if my unit has already been targeted with test of courage?
Currently, no. I strongly doubt those answers change in Diamond.
Does my tactician personality have to be opposed in order to play the card?
Yes (Gold Edition rulebook, pg. 46).
acquiring the favor
does this mean that if your opponent has the favor and has more honor than you that you can play this card t get the favor and use it regardless of where your personal honor is?
The Favor stays where it is, but the card satisfies the cost of using it, so you get to perform particular effects regardless of where your honor is or who has the Favor.
Rules question
who does the "you" in the text [of Kiseru] refer to?
Controller (Winds of Change rulesheet).
