Rules for 24 August 2003
A rules digest from the L5R CCG rules team, copied from the mailing list archive for Oracle of the Void. The askers' names are left out. Rulings are as they stood on this date; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.
Greetings,
Rules for 22 August 2003, Part 2
For cards such as Shogun's Barracks. Do you need to have control of the favor to use its ability?
Depends what wind you have.
I'm playing Akodo Kaneka. [D]o I have to control the favor in order to use its ability?
No.
I know it seems like
since the Shadowlands are NOT a Clan and are a Faction WITHOUT a Faction Trait... how is it that they can attach Ancestors?
"Because Zen says so!"
Ah... power.
Here's what I've just added to the Rules Archive (available at http://www.legendofthefiverings.com/rulings/#Ancestors in case you don't believe me): "For Shadowlands Ancestors, the Shadowlands trait acts like a Faction trait for the purpose of meeting the Ancestor's Faction restriction. [ZF, 24 August 2003]"
Come One at a Time question
Can I still challenge even though I am bowed[?]
No. Bowed Personalities cannot be targeted by your own actions or use abilities (Gold Edition rulebook, pg. 24, 46).
If I can't then can I bring in another guy and start dueling my next battle action?
Only if there's some way to remove the Personality already there, because otherwise you'd have two defending units (card text).
Come One at a Time question
can you not flee your own guy, because of that fact it says target monk or shugenja, then cancel a target action targeting the monk..... umm doesnt this contradict the fact that he is bowed and you are targeting him?
No. Targeting occurs before bowing to pay costs.
Diamond packs
I know it has been said that Diamond will be packed out differently but what exactly does this meqn, 15 or 11 card pack and what about rarity distribution?
The last I heard, informally, was that the box prices would be the same as Magic -- fewer boosters, I think. I don't remember hearing anything about 11 vs. 15 card packs. The rarity was slated to be 100 rares, 100 uncommons, 200 commons.
Force bonuses and such
can the rat Z'orr'tek, which cancels a force bonus as a reaction, cancel the wedge during the resolution the current battle.
*Currently*, no, because Wedge is not a Force bonus (Rules Archive). Also, Z'orr'tek does not "cancel" -- he reduces it to 0, which is different.
Can you overconfidence after the resolution[?]
No, for the same reason.
