A rules digest from the L5R CCG rules team, copied from the mailing list archive for Oracle of the Void. The askers' names are left out. Rulings are as they stood on this date; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.
atoshi
crane player bows atoshi to keep my domotai bowed he then discards the facor to play a card bows as an open to get the favor back before my next turn can my domatai straighten because he lost the favor or does he remain bowed
Atoshi's effect ended as soon as he discarded the Favor. Your Personality is free to straighten.

If an army (attacking or defending) consists only of units with Tattoo of the Void:
All the Void Tattoo does is prevent the Personality from counting towards the Rule of Presence for his or her controller. Players can still target it, including you, though you have to think harder than usual whether you meet the Rule of Presence, and even you have to pay the higher cost of the extra discard.
So if all of my units have the Void Tattoo, other than actions that move one of my units into the battle can I only play actions which say "May be played in a battle in which you have no units"? (ie refugees)
Correct.
Can I play Power of Nothing and thus restrict my opponent to only getting his units out of battle?
Yes.
I Give You My Name Question
If I use I Give You My Name to summon Tsuburu no Oni, how many personalities do I have to kill? 1 or 2?
Relevant text:
I Give You My Name Maho Limited: Bow this shugenja and destroy one of your human Personalities to search for a non-Unique Oni from your deck or discard pile with a Gold cost less than or equal to the human's Gold cost plus this Shugenja's chi. Put the Oni into play, without Gold cost and ignoring play restrictions. Lose 2 Honor.
Tsuburu no Oni Unaligned Nonhuman Cavalry Shadowlands You must destroy one of your Personalities to bring Tsuburu no Oni into play. Lose 5 Honor. Tsuburu no Oni cannot attach Armor or Followers. Reaction: When the Battle Action Segment ends, if Tsuburu no Oni is attacking and no units are defending, Tsuburu no Oni gains +6F.
Destroying a Personality is a cost of playing Tsuburu no Oni. ("You must destroy one of your Personalities to bring Tsuburu no Oni into play.") I Give You My Name only removes the Gold cost of the Oni. You must still pay all remaining costs. You would need to destroy two Personalities total.
Question: accept with honour
Does accept with honour target the samurai who is accepting the duel?
No. It does not change the Personality. It affects YOU, though, with the honor gain, so it targets you.
Clan rivals boosters
"Each 5-card booster (for lack of a better word) includes multiple copies of a new, non-unique personality from a particular clan, and the remaining cards are "core" cards (think Sanctified Temples, Small Farm, common Actions, etc...." - Mark Jelfo.
Okay, so what happens if you already have 3 Small Farms in your deck, and your booster contains another one? Do you play with 4 Small Farms? Or do you take one of your normal ones out?
You add the contents of the booster to your deck. You can go over legal card limits from this without being disqualified.
Similarly, I don't know if this will ever be possible, but what happens if towards the end of a Clan Rivals season (when the released Personality is legal for tourney play) a player comes to a clan rivals tourney with 3 copies of the promo personality already in their deck? Do they have to add another 3, or can they not?
Ideally, the release dates won't allow this. We will revisit the situation if they do.
Q?: Seven questions
1)Tishi -> You may use his ability when he is out of the current battle ? (I need a clarification of the term 'Opposing player')
On a card type which can be in battles, "an opposing player" means "a player who controls one or more cards opposing this card". Tishi must be in the current battle.
2)Ningen + Sh. to Fukurokujin -> you may use Ningen if a card revealed with the Sh. to Fukurokujin has focus >= than the personality's chi ?
Yes.
3)House of the First Stone -> May be used after resolution? (from rulebook: All surviving attacking and allied units (including defending allies) return to their controllers' homes, bowed)
House of the First Stone can only be used if a unit is being sent home by an action. [card text] The end of a battle is not an action. No.
5)We Will Have Revenge -> may be played if I have no personalities? and if I only have bowed personalities? and if may opponent don't have personalities?
No, no, no. You must target two Personalities, one of yours and one of his [card text]. Yours must be unbowed because it is your action. If you cannot satisfy both targets, you cannot take the action.
6)Tattoo of the Void -> What's the meaning of 'does not count towards whether his or her controller has units in a battle'
It does not count towards the Rule of Presence or for any action that cannot or can only be played while you have at least one unit in the battle.
7)Togashi's Shrine -> You may discard one ring and retake the same ring from the discard pile ?
Yes.
Rules question - Jeff
If Akodo Yobi is in a battle where his player plays Deadly Ground can his reaction still be used to draw a card? And what if Yobi were outside of the battle?
No and no. Yobi's Reaction is used "after" the Terrain is played. Deadly Ground is in full effect. Yobi's Reaction is an action, and it does not destroy Deadly Ground, therefore it is not allowed by Deadly Ground. It makes no difference whatsoever where Yobi is located.
clarifications/couple of question
Can i use temple of the ninth kami's ability on one of my opponents personalities if i do not have any personalities in play.... thus forcing him to dishonor?
Yes.
Are personality honor requirements checked before or after paying the gold cost?
Both. [archive] You must meet the Personality's requirement before you can legally start paying for him. If you do not meet his requirement once you've produced enough gold, you cannot buy him. He stays in the Province.
I Give You My Name Question
The cost is 4 gold, the 5 pnt honor loss is an entering play effect, and the killing of a personality is an entering play restriction.
I have to admit, I'm confused here. How can a restriction be something you DO? A restriction is some condition you have to meet. A question. A test. Something you DO has to be either a cost or an effect.
If it said "Destroy a personality as a cost of bringing Tsuburu into play", then it would be a cost, otherwise it is just an entering play restriction.
That would be one way, but so is "Do X to play this card", due to the magic of the word "to". Tsuburu no Oni fits that mold. It is a cost.
Question
I have a very basic question that I think the rulebooks states, but I want to be sure. If an action, ability, spell, etc. give a +Force/Chi bonus but does not state on the card when it ends, then it ends at the end of the turn correct.
The default duration of most effects is until the end of the turn. [GE p. 39] That includes Biting Steel.
koku list
the cards in the old koku list can be taken as the new list, if avaliable?
You can ask for cards listed either on our web page or in the latest Imperial Herald. If the lists are different, that's twice as many cards to pick from!
