Imperial Ambassadorship and Draw Them Out
Can I play Draw Them Out as a reaction to another player's Imperial Ambassadorship? If I can, does that mean that my opponent only keeps the first card he draws, or does he keep one and discard the other two?
Assuming you react to the second card and not the third, he would draw and keep one, draw and discard two, then still choose two of those three cards -- no matter where they are now -- to shuffle back into his deck.
G&F: why all the hubub?
and what I really dont understand is why they didnt make it more obvious, which they insist they did. They should have said "THIS CARD" instead of gifts and favors, which implies you would be getting a different copy.
Cards using their own titles has been the standard for years. How many players have looked at a Stables and read "Bow Stables to produce 2 Gold." as meaning they could bow any Stables, anywhere... even other players'? It's the exact same syntax as G&F uses, yet Stables causes no confusion. So it's not as though we weren't sure whether G&F's wording was clear enough. On the contrary: we had good reason to believe it was.
Then again, I've heard time and time again how they refuse to do anything with cards before they hit the stores, or in this case, before theyre delivered because cards can change in that time. Wouldnt it be time to do that now? I've ordered my set, and I'm going to find it highly annoying explaining to people at my local store what the card was intended to do, and trying to get them to believe me. I'm really sick of having to say "They've already ruled on it"
I don't understand your point here. To what do you refer when you say "how they refuse to do anything with cards before they hit the stores"? If you're admonishing us for refusing to change the way the cards are worded, well, that's not company policy, that's physical impossibility. By the time previews are released, production of the cards is already underway, if not completed. If you're criticizing our reluctance to issue rulings based on previews, why do you then turn around and make known your displeasure at possessing them?
What is an Ability
In a game last night I was playing against a Shadowlands player who was using the Citadel of Daigotsu. Now according to the stronghold when one of his cards is producing Fear, he can bow that card to have the Fear also affect my Personality if I have no unbowed cards attached.
So I tried using Lady MoonÃs Curse on Osoreru no Oni Exp. to keep him from being able to use that ability on one of my beefier guys. He said it was an not ability according to the rulebook, which reads: Ability Text on a card or Stronghold or from the rulebook prefaced by "Limited," "Battle," "Open," or "Reaction." Synonymous with "action."
So my questions are, is the ability to bow the card to have the Fear also affect Personalities not really an ability?
It doesn't meet the definition in the rulebook. It's not an ability.
And if not what is it?
Duel reactions question.
I know that during the challenge, the challenged gets the first option for a reaction.
Incorrect. The challenged player gets the first opportunity to focus or strike, but that is irrelevant. Reaction timing is no different in duels than during any other part of the game: priority is determined first by the actual wording of the cards, and if that does not resolve the issue, the first Reaction goes to the player to the left of the one who caused the trigger (in this case, whoever created the duel).
but does that change during the duel?
No.
like when someone strikes, does the challenged get first option to play a reaction or does the active player?
A reaction taken "before someone strikes in a duel" will always be played before a reaction taken "when someone strikes", which will always be played before a reaction taken "after someone strikes". If both are worded the same, the first chance to react goes to the player sitting to the left of the one calling the strike.
Yobi + Deadly Ground
Just wanted to make sure I was reading this right but if I play a Deadly Ground while I have Akodo Yobi in play I can NOT take his reaction to draw a card?
Correct. He cannot.
(If he is at the battle where I played the terrain.)
It doesn't matter where he is.
Aramasu, Kitao question.
If yoritomo kitao normal, and Yoritomo aramasu are in play. Can I bring, yoritomo kitao exp overlaying kitao normal, and not destroying Yoritomo aramasu?
You can. Overlaying Kitao does not count as playing her. [p. 36]
very quick 1KYoD question
I know that Dave and maybe a couple of other people have said that at least the vast majority of 1KYoD will not be reprinted (although there will be one or more exceptions to this - Gifts and Favors in particular), but will any of 1KYoD be a reprint of older sets?
No.
In the esteemed opinion of the folks putting together 1KYoD, will it be reasonable to try to put together a 1KYoD-only tournament or would you need other cards added to make an environment that can support actual decks?
You would definitely need to add other cards.
