A rules digest from the L5R CCG rules team, copied from the mailing list archive for Oracle of the Void. The askers' names are left out. Rulings are as they stood on this date; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.
Kisada's Shrine.
AI just got a look at the card Kisada's Shrine on Zen's page.
if i put this in an open deck could i use tak to unbow it?
You mean Yasuki Taka? Sure. Why not? It's a Holding. Just don't forget that Taka's straightening action is a Open action. You couldn't, for instance, keep two different people alive who die in the same battle
Rules question
Here's a question... if a personality is destroyed while bowed, could a reaction which is theoretically played 'after the personality is destroyed' still target that personality?
Generally, yes.
Ki rin's shrine is a necessity
Comments Below:
I'm not sure when you heard that. I don't think they're doing very well in Britain, but I gather that they do better on the Continent.
[KAI] Well, this was back a few months, but it was definitely a Jeff Alexander / Dave Willams quote. You can go back into the archives on Deathseeker or Yahoo! if you don't want to take my word for it.
Basically, some players said: Kosaten Shiro Crane is over powered, they won a bunch of GSTs and Jade Champion etc. etc. AEG guys basically dismissed the appeal by saying, "Why isn't Crane dominating Europe, then?"
That's odd considering our data on the European scene for the past couple of months put Shadowlands, Crane, Unicorn, and Lion as the top four factions.
The REAL reason the Shrine is getting errated ..
And, as it has been noted: Rulings and Errata customarily go into effect when the new set is released, not when the set becomes legal.
Hence, if there is a change in this rule in the rulebook, it would logically apply to Gen-Con (when the new set is released).
If this does hold, however, and we are playing under Broken Blades rules, it might be nice if AEG could clue the participants in ahead of time to any changes between the Broken Blades and Dark Allies rulebooks.
I've already stated that we won't be enforcing any gameplay changes in the Broken Blades rulebook at GenCon -- just errata (of which there should be nothing new) and clarifications.
