2 questions [JEFF/VAUGHN]
1- Tsuno Attack When the event resolves and the attack begins, am I able to also send along the personalities that I already have in play? It has no such restriction in the wording. Or is the attack just with whatever personalities I turn up with the event?
The ones you reveal begin an attack. That's it.
2-Last night I turned up Retirement AND Imperial Gift on a Plains of Otasan Uchi. How do they resolve?
In the order they were revealed. Pick one of the face-down cards to reveal first. If it's an Event, resolve it before revealing the other card.
asako Yuja
A question
Can she cast spells while bowed?
By bowing the Spell instead of herself? Yes.
Tainted, corrupted, the whole deck thing...
See, this is a philosophy I've never agreed with. I get it in principle, but it just doesn't work in practice for some very simple reasons. If shadowlands cards are a "temptation" for great clan players because they are somehow superior in a game play sense to non-corrupt cards, that screws up the game.
It "screws up the game" if and only if they are in all ways superior. But they're not.
Doji Reju (Exp2) Question
Hi, I was wondering what would happen if a Crane player had Ki-Rin's Shrine (exp) out and brought Doji Reju (exp2) into play for full?
A. the player gains 2 honor. B. the player gains 3 honor. C. this question has been answered and I somehow missed it when I looked.
Reju Exp. is a Dragon Clan Personality. He'd get the Personal Honor bonus, and being 3PH upon entering play, the Crane player would gain 3 Honor.
Revering the Past, and Other ?s
<x-html><!x-stuff-for-pete base="" src="" id="0"><HTML><PRE><FONT FACE=arial,helvetica><FONT SIZE=2 FAMILY="SANSSERIF" FACE="Arial" LANG="0"><BR> <BR> Just a few quick questions.<BR> <BR>
See all that stuff in angle brackets? It's HTML. Please don't use it.
1: Revering the Past. When this event resolves, if A player has no personalities in play, can they still search for the Ancestor? If yes, where does the Ancestor card go, and do they lose 3 honor?<BR>
See that " "? That's also HTML. Please don't use it.
Each player may always retrieve an Ancestor, regardless of whether they can attach it. Retrieving the Ancestor is all that's needed to avoid the honor loss. If the Ancestor is not attached, it gets discarded.
2: Black Finger River. When a personality comes into play from a province with this reagion attached, they are Shadowlands cards (ie. I can reduce their cost by 4g with the Horde Stronghold) Do they also now belong to the Shadowlands faction?
There is no trait that signifies belonging to the Shadowlands faction. No.
3. Ancestors in general. When I bring a personality into play, I can bow the Personality and attach an ancestor from my hand. If, for some reason the personality comes into play bowed, I assume I cannot attach an ancestor. Is this correct?
Bowing is a cost of attaching an Ancestor [DA rulebook p. 30], so it can't be done simultaneously with bringing the Personality into play bowed.
Also, can I attach an Ancestor when I overlay with an exp. personality?<BR>
No, because overlaying does no count as bringing the Personality into play.
Forgotten Tomb question
Example 1: I reveal the Celestial Dragon either on Black Finger River or via Dark Oracle of Earth (exp), thus permanently giving it the Shadowlands trait. I place it under the Forgotten Tomb during my Dynasty Phase. After the required number of turns, will the Celestial Dragon be allowed to enter play or will he sit in the Tomb forever because I can't meet his honor requirement?
I believe he will sit forever, as this would happen during the Dynasty Phase.
Also, the Tomb doesn't get around the "Will only join X Clan". Correct?
Correct.
Revering the Past, and Other ?s
Some of these answers were incorrect. Read on below.
While I was thinking about these rulings, something came to me: Ancestors must be of the same faction as the cards they attach to. But Shadowlands cards don't have a faction trait. The Rule of Obvious Legality says of course Shadowlands Ancestors can attach to Shadowlands Personalities, but that's a last resort. Did I miss something on the list or in the DA rulebook?
You didn't miss anything.
Revering the Past, and Other ?s
>Yes, they are Shadowlands cards and they have the Shadowlands trait with all<BR> >the good and bad that goes with it. They do not belong to the Shadowlands<BR> >Horde faction, however, because there are no personalities with the<BR> >Shadowlands Horde faction trait. Shadowlands trait does not equal the<BR> >Shadowlands Horde faction trait.<BR>
Hard to read, i'nnit?
If this is the case, Is the card "Reassert One's Mettle" useless for a Shadowlands Horde player? Card Text: "Limited: Give a permanent +2F/+2C bonus to one of your Personalities aligned with your Faction. You may only play this card if you control at least 3 different personalities who are not aligned with your Faction. Only one Reassert One's Mettle may be played on a Personality per game."<BR>
Reassert One's Mettle, and anything else that checks for Personalities aligned with your faction, is useless to Shadowlands players, yes.
How do Regions enter play? (Jeff, Dave, Vaughn, Zen)
Why did this rule change in gold edition vs prior editions? I am certain that pre-gold the rule was any order I choose...
Pre-Gold, the rules did not specify one way or the other.
Alliance + Tsuno
So could I name Tsuno with Alliance?
"Tsuno" is not one of the game's factions listed on pp. 34-35. No.
I do not want to name Shadowlands only Tsuno for Storyline purposes? Also if a deck has all 10 available Tsuno in it would it be considered tainted, if said deck was also using Asako Misao to remove the Shadowlands trait from the Tsuno?
More than three Shadowlands/Maho cards = corrupt. Ten is more than three. Now, if a Story Team member or other Alderac employee watched you using Misao, and you finish near the top...who knows?
Rulings Question (JEFF)
Sorry, my last question regarding the Ring of Earth wasn't phrased quite right let me give a better example. Player B has province strength 6. Player A assigns a 6 force unit to attack player B's province 1. Player B defends with Togashi Hoshi. Player A resolves provinces 2, 3, and 4 (both players pass, no provinces destroyed). Player A resolves province 1, player B passes. Player A uses superior tactics to move his unit to province 2. Player B has Hoshi cast Chasing Osano-Wo which gives player A's unit a 7 force bonus. Because province 2 has already been resolved player A's unit returns home bowed at the end of the attack phase. Is the Ring of Earth playable as a result and, if so, when?
It is not playable. The only time the Ring of Earth can be played is immediately after a battle ends, and it regards only the attacking army Force and Province strength at that battle from the beginning of the attack to that point.
Forgotten Tomb question
the tomb says after the whole wait till you equal there force ",paying all non-gold cost" thing is...i cant understand if its saying...you must pay all non-gold cost or if it pays all non-gold cost...
You must pay all non-Gold costs.
