Ahm. Color me confused.
Jeff,
Why could we not use Daidoji Hachi who is Gold bugged in a Four Winds tournament?
He is? Why does nobody tell me these things?
We could have 2x Daidoji and 1x Yasuki in a deck could we not?
Just not 3 of each of them, right?
Correct and correct. I had forgotten the Daidoji version was printed in gold-bugged form in Spirit Wars. My bad.
Deeds Question.
Deeds, Not Words. Political Open: Target a player. Until the end of the turn, that player gains 1 Honor in addition to any other award when one of his Personalities wins a duel, and 1 additional Honor for each opposing card destroyed in the Resolution Segment of battle. Honor gains from any other source are counted as losses instead of gains for that player.
How does this interact with Moment Before the Strike, which says: Political Reaction: Play after a duel has been accepted but before the first focus. The winner of the duel will gain 3 additional honor. Only one Moment Before the Strike may be played per duel.
Does the Deeds add one honor to the duel, and one to the moment, or does the winner gain one honor extra for the duel, and then lose three for the Moment? I could see it going either way. Thank you!
Based on the current ruling for Brilliant Victory, The Moment Before the Strike increases the duel's honor gain by 3. That means it's not treated as a separate gain and would not be turned into a loss by DNW. You'd gain a total of 4 extra honor: 1 from DNW and 3 from TMBtS. DNW does NOT increase every separate duel gain component by 1. It is its own, self-contained 1-point gain.
Rules Q
Imperial Assembly (promo)
Reaction: before a player takes a polotical action, bow the imperial assembly to prevent the action from being canceled and any of it's effects from being negated.
Can I use this card to prevent other players from lobbying against me when bowing for favor? Does using it's abilitry affect lobbying in any manner? ie gift giving, vernerable stature, perfect gift, etc.....
It won't make your lobby attempt immune to failure from not having enough honor to take the Favor, and it prohibits neither gift-giving nor petitioning against you.
Venerable Stature would still be legal as it doesn't even make the lobbying less likely to succeed. The Perfect Gift is clearly illegal because it says "the lobbying attempt is cancelled".
Superior Tactics #47: Be Prepared To Dig Two Graves
Trevor, I believe the bonus would actually stay with the army and not get deflated. It was a gain. Please correct me if I am wrong.
The card says, "Until the end of the game, any Personality aligned with your clan opposing target Personality in a battle or duel gains a 2F/2C bonus."
Since the bonus is gained and there is nothing that says the bonus is lost, if the opponent goes away. It is just like a tactician bonus. It stays until the end of the turn(unless said otherwise)like during a counterattack.
It's a continuous bonus. It only lasts so long as the condition holds. Trevor is right.
Poisoned Weapon Clarification
Okay, I started this whole long debate by asking a question, but I guess I wasn't clear enough. What I was trying to ask was: Does the wording on Poisoned Weapon which says that the duel does not occur if the personality dies before it (the duel) resolves. This seemed to indicate to me that you subtracted the 3 Chi first, then added the focuses. This may not be how it is currently played, but it seems to be what the card indicates.
It's quite possible to kill someone anyway: his Chi was low to begin with, he didn't focus at all or focussed only 1s and 2s as a bluff, it wasn't a duel of Chi, more than one Poisoned Weapon got played. That text is there to clarify what happens then.
