A rules digest from the L5R CCG rules team, copied from the mailing list archive for Oracle of the Void. The askers' names are left out. Rulings are as they stood on this date; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.
Rules for 28 May 2001 / Political Actions
Can I "Enough Talk!" a Gift of Fealty?
Guess so. Had to go way back to the old FAQ for this, but "...generally any targetted card that's not purely detrimental is considered performed."
There's a rulebook definition (Spirit Wars rulebook, p. 49) more recent than this FAQ entry. To paraphrase, a card performs an action if either the action is printed on that card or the card bows as a cost of the action.
Gift of Fealty does not fit either of these cases. It is not performed by the Personality. Enough Talk! cannot be played.
Quick Question
This may be a bad question, but how can the Emperor's Underhand ever be a Political action? (IMO, it should be printed that way, but there ya go...)
Use of the favor.
Ah. Did I miss a rule where any use of the Imperial Favor automatically makes the action using it Political?
Yup. It's been that way for awhile.
Region/Exile's Road question
Do regions enter play simultaneously after all provinces are revealed, or is it in reveal order? Specifically, can Exile's Road in Province 1 copy a Shinsei's Shrine in Province 2, if both are revealed on the same turn and there are no other Shrines in play?
It is not simultaneous, and since the current rulebook does not specify an order, the active player gets to bring them out in the order she wishes.
Two Questions
2) What happens when a personality with Shiro no Osono-wo attaches the Armor of the Monkey Clan? Does the personality gain +1/+1 because it is one item or does he gain +2/+2 because the item is both armor and a weapon?
+1/+1.
Zen, did I ever talk to you about officially reversing the Temples of the New Tao ruling? I'm not happy with the ease with which certain cards are gaining double bonuses.
