<bows> Is Shinjo Technique's redirection, even though the redirection is done from the standpoint of the original action player, is it considered targetting by the ST player if that player has Yodin Sensei?

No. A redirected action is still considered to be targeted by the player who originally played it. This includes targeting restrictions that the original player would have to have stuck to, and means that it's not considered targeting for Yodin Sensei.

Also is Corruption of the Harmonies (Iris Festival, Imperial Census, et al..) considered targeting for Yodin sensei players?

Nope. Anything that affects all of a certain type of card (all Shadowlands cards, all bowed personalities, etc.) doesn't count as targeting.

What all can be cancelled by the card Fall to Your Knees? I was wondering just how useful this card actually is.

Things that can be cancelled by Fall on your Knees include:

Confusion at Court Test of Courage Sneak Attack The Arrow Knows the Way Bad Kharma Flee the Darkness Overconfidence Fall on your Knees (ironically)

...and any other Reactions that get played during the battle action segment. How useful the card is depends upon how nasty you consider the above actions to be.

I have a question: If I use the Hantei Sensei's to names the Kharmic strike, what's happens?

Kharmic Strike can only be used for its focus value (0). Hantei Sensei will even wipe non-action effects off of action cards, making them nigh-useless.

You can use the action on Hantei XVI's card, even if you cannot normally lose honor. However, because the lowering of your honor isn't an honor loss, it still happens, and a Shadowlands player would instantly drop to -39, losing the game.

I thought I'd already ruled on this, Vaughn: the Spawning Ground and Horde cannot take Hantei XVI because they cannot change their honor from -19.

Yeah. Mea Culpa. For whatever reason, I'm just having trouble kicking the answer I got on this during playtest out of my head. :/

Greetings.

Hi. My Orange is just fine, by the way.

My question involves MRP and two cards.

A Moment of Truth 0g/1f Reaction: Play along with any other Fate card to increase the focus value of that card by one. This may be done while focussing in a duel. (1997)

A Moment of Truth 0g/2f Reaction: Play this card when one of your Personalities wins a duel or is in an army that destroys an opposing army. Go through your Dynasty deck (the Provinces, if necessary) and put the Experienced version of that Personality into play on the target Personality per the rules for Experienced Personalities. Reshuffle the deck. (1999)

One is newer. They have the same name. Is the second an MRP of the first, since they have the same name? If not, do they count for each other for deck construction purposes? Or did I miss an errata?

You missed an errata. There was a note on this back when the second card came out. They are considered seperate and distinct cards for deckbuilding purposes, as this was completely unintentional.

Since it [Otomo Sensei] doesn't specify can I use Otomo Sensei to prevent a player from searching his dynasty deck? (Imperial gift, restoring doji treasury, Isawa Taeruko etc...) or does it apply to fate deck search/drawing alone?

No, Otomo Sensei applies equally to Fate and Dynasty searching. I was extremely impressed when I saw guys at the Michigan Regional using this Sensei to completely shut down Phoenix decks with the stupid Taeruko/Crevasse trick. It was cool.

And does the player specifically have to search the deck to trigger the sensei's reaction? ie, if they draw only the top card of their deck can I still cancel it? Or alternately if they use a "non-searching" method of drawing cards selectively (banish all shadows)

They specifically have to search the deck. Drawing a card, even drawing multiple cards and choosing one, isn't enough to let Otomo Sensei trigger.

What exactly specifies as a Toturi card? Is it cards only with Toturi in the name such as Toturi the first, or Toturi's Daisho? Or does it also apply to personalities with the Toturi's Army trait? (Thus a "Toturi" card)

Having the "Toturi's" trait is *not* the same as having the "Toturi" trait. So, with Kohuri in play, Toturi is safe, but general Toturi's Army personalities are not.

same with, Imperial only cards with Imperial in title? Or all cards with the Imperial trait such as personalities that are Imperial Magistrates.

Due to the fact that the words are exactly the same in the traits, Imperial Magistrates count as Imperial cards for Kohuri. However, if the trait were "Imperial's Magistrates" or something, then Kohuri would be helpless to prevent their deaths.

You cannot target your own bowed cards unless something specifically allows it.

Not quite. You cannot target your own bowed *personalities* with *actions*. Big difference.

Kyoso no Oni says:

Unaligned Shadowlands. Nonhuman. No Followers or Items. You must destroy one of your holdings when this card is put into play. Lose 3 Honor. Battle Elemental: Bow to make a Ranged 7 Attack.

Does that mean that you have to destroy one of your unbowed holdings?

Nope. It means you have to destroy a holding, which can be bowed or unbowed due to the fact that it's not a personality, and Kyoso no Oni's effect is not an action.

Given the subject line, the question should be pretty obvious. Does White Shore Plain provide a force bonus to personalities granted the tactician trait by Akodo sensei? Due to somewhat vague wording, it seems that decent arguements can be made for either yes or no. Whoever is doing rulings for now, any ideas?

Yeah, I've got a pretty good one. How about, White Shore Plain works perfectly well with personalities granted the Tactician trait by Akodo Sensei, because they aren't 'using' the trait to get the force bonus. WSP references the trait, sure, but it doesn't actually 'use' it, so Akodo Sensei doesn't care.
