Koshin keep and Twin forks city

L5R CCG Rules board, 22 September 2012 to 24 September 2012

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

A question has rised to me after playing against a twin fork city deck. It can be also applied to Hundred fold cuts and loyalty of the scropion. So, in a battle where I played the koshin keep reaction, a crane had 2 personalities, after me killing the first one, the crane played a duel against one of my guys (that I delayed it's effects with courage, avoiding his death), so he got the react of twin forks city from it (this is ok). After that I did a RA5 "theorically" killing him, since his house negated the destruction, I was prociding to chain another ranged attack to really kill him. Then the guy told me that I could not chain because he negated the destruction and because of that my action was stopped. I argued that he only negated the destruction from my action, but that the -5f coming from Koshin keep and the additional that it let me do doesn't get negated, so that I could get an additional to launch another ranged attack and this one would kill his personality. He argued back, that it was not posible because his guy actually was destroyed but then he negated, so when "destroying" my "chain" was stopped. Since it was a friendly game I didn't want to argue further, but I found it a bit strange, so I've decided to ask here if he was right or I was right, just to know for next time.

Cards text:

Koshin keep Recon Reaction: After engaging: You have Reconnaissance at the current battlefield. Until this battle ends, your Ranged Attacks that do not destroy their target have the additional effects, "reduce the target's Force by the Ranged Attack's strength and you may take an additional Ranged Attack Battle action that may only target the same card".

Twin forks city (it's a trait) After an action resolves that created a duel your Personality won during a Combat Segment, once per Personality per battle: Negate his next bowing, movement, or destruction from other players' cards' effects.

Thank you very much in advance!

If the Personality's destruction is negated (by Twin Forks City or any similar effect), this will trigger Koshin Keep's "force penalty and additional ranged attack", since the Personality was never actually destroyed.

A counterexample of this would be a card like Feign Death, where the Personality dies but comes back into play - in that case, Koshin Keep will not trigger.
