Noob Battle action Question

L5R CCG Rules board, 21 August 2012 to 23 August 2012

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

I've recently started L5R, the local shop is going solely off their interpretation of the rules as they read them in a started deck.

Could some of you more experienced players clarify a rule for us?

Can I use a battle action that does not require me to tap the card using it, multiple times in a battle?

E.g. Can I use Shamate Keep's ability "Battle: Choose your performing unbowed Personality and target a Personality with equal or lower Personal Honor: Move him home. Gain 2 Honor if you do not control him.", then allow the opponent to take an action or pass, and then use the ability again?

I see a rule saying that an action can only be used "once per turn", but not one saying "once per phase".

Thanks in advance.

As you pointed out, all actions can only be used once per turn, as the default. That means exactly what it says it means.

Since a phase is simply a smaller part of the larger turn, the once per turn limit applies to any action, no matter if their designator is Battle or otherwise.
