Inexorable Vs Multiple Cancellation Effects

L5R CCG Rules board, 26 July 2012 to 28 July 2012

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

This mainly relates to multiple cancellation affects from an action. Now to set this up say my opponent has 3x Yasuki Ikke's out, Yasuki-Jin-Kuen Xp out and lets say the hand is stacked with Bad Kharma and i am below -1 honor. We are in an opposed battle and i target her merchant with lets say brawl to bow a card without attachments. Since the opposing player has multiple reactions lets say they choose to react with the Ikke's and i want to play Inexorable. They then want to play Bad Kharma What happens? Or reverse the order and lets say they use Jinn Kuen's reaction first then the Ikke's.

Yasuki Ikke Crab Clan • Courtier • Merchant • Tax Collector Reaction: After another player's Battle action targets one of your Merchants, pay 2 Gold: Either negate its effects on him or make the player lose 2 Honor. Battle: Even if Ikke is not at the current battlefield, target your Merchant: Move him home.

Yasuki Jinn-Kuen Crab Clan • Daimyo • Courtier • Kolat • Merchant • Experienced 2 • Loyal • Unique • Master Coin Political Open: Target a Holding or Stronghold: Straighten it. Political Reaction: After an action targets your Merchant, pay 2 Gold: Negate the action's effects.

Bad Kharma After another player with Family Honor of -1 or lower announces an action on a Strategy: He ignores the action's costs. Negate its effects.

Inexorable Reaction: After another player announces a Reaction during the Combat Segment: Its effects will not negate other effects.

Inexorable Reaction: After another player announces a Reaction during the Combat Segment: Its effects will not negate other effects.

Situations like this are why Inexorable is worded the way it is.

In any case, Inexorable only stops one negation reaction from working. It will have no effect on subsequent reactions that would negate the original action.
