Kakita Ichigiku and negation

L5R CCG Rules board, 25 July 2012 to 28 July 2012

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

A player, 25 July 2012

Does Kakita Ichigiku's trait add effects to the [consequences of the] duel that he initiates or is the destruction indepandant from said duel ?

This is important to know if actions that negate destruction from actions (like Hundred-Fold Cut) work against duels initiated by Ichigiku or not.

Kakita Ichigiku After Ichigiku challenges a dishonorable Personality during a Combat Segment: The challenge will not be refused; destroy that duel's loser in addition to other consequences of losing.

Hundred-Fold Cut (relevant text only) Reaction: After another player's action targets your performing Kensai, bow or destroy one of his Weapons: Negate his destruction from the action's effects.

No. Ichigiku's destruction is its own effect coming from Ichigiku, not the original action; the wording is there to show that the normal effects of the duel happen as well.
