The scenario was that I attempted to equip Might of the Sun to my shugenja during battle, bowing Prosperous Village, Small Farm, and using the reaction on Near Miss to produce the necessary 7 gold. My opponent plays Ninja Tricks to negate the gold from Near Miss so I lack the necessary gold to go through with attaching the spell. Do I still need to bow my Prosperous Village and Small Farm seeing as the Equip action failed?

Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

You have the choice of continuing to pay or abandoning the attempt.
Costs and restrictions, Interference with costs and payments: If any specific payment of a cost is negated, delayed, or made impossible in the process of paying costs, the player paying the cost may use alternate available sources to pay it, or may choose not to pay it. If no alternate payment is made, then any costs already paid are not refunded, no further costs are paid, and ... if the unpaid cost is for a card entering play (including entering play as part of an action), it goes back to where it came from.
