A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.
A player, 19 May 2012
What is the timing window for redirect reactions which trigger on "when an action would target" verses reactions which trigger on specific targeting?
I will give an example from play to make the question clearer.
Player A uses an action (say from the Yasuki Palaces xp) to send Player B's personality home. Player B reacts with Know No Fear Player A reacts with Inexorable Player B reacts with to original action with Blade of Champions to redirect the action to another personality.
Is this a legal sequence or is the window of opportunity for triggering blade of champions closed once player B reacts with know no fear? The reactions have subtly different triggers.

Know No Fear
Reaction: After another player's action targets your performing Samurai: Negate his bowing and movement from the action's effects. Reaction: After a Fear action targets your performing Samurai: Negate its effects.
Blade of Champions
Reaction: When a Battle action would target a card in this unit, bow this card: The action targets another of your cards instead, if legal.
Inexorable
Reaction: After another player announces a Reaction during the Combat Segment: Its effects will not negate other effects.

"When (would)" comes before "after".
If you React with "Know No Fear" ("after"), you have passed the point where you could legally react with Blade of Champions. So, the sequence you described is not in fact legal. Sorry.
