Discovering a Conspiracy and Loyal trait

L5R CCG Rules board, 27 March 2012

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Question: Does Discovering a Conspiracy destroy a personality who has the Loyal trait and has a faction trait at the time when targeted by Discovering a Conspiracy?

Loyal trait is defined in two different ways (not sure which is the correct ruling):

rule book: loyal: A loyal personality will not be controlled by a player who does not share a clan alignment with the personality rules glossary: Loyal: A Personality with the Loyal keyword will not become controlled by a player who does not share a Clan alignment with that Personality - either by bringing into play or by changing control.

Discovering a Conspiracy: As a Focus Effect: After this duel ends, if your Personality won it: Gain 2 Honor. Battle/Open: Choose your performing unbowed Magistrate and target a Personality: His lord casts him out for treachery. Permanently remove his Clan alignment keywords. Dishonor him. If he is at a battlefield, bow him and choose a player, who gains or loses 1 Honor.

1) Those two definitions mean exactly the same thing; restrictions are not checked constantly, and there is no general rule that later failing to meet a restriction will retroactively undo instant effects (such as having gained control of a card).
