Timing on Boastful Proclamation

L5R CCG Rules board, 29 January 2012

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

I was wondering on the timing of the event, Boastful Proclamation and how it works with the honor victory condition. Basically, can you "win" the game with this delayed effect happening?

Senario: 38 honor, Boastful Proclamation's province is still intact, beginning of the next turn; gain 3 honor, win the game? Or does the turn start being checked at 38, then honor gain happens. The thought is this happens simultaneously because of the wording on Boastful Proclamation.

Per the Rule Book PDF: Honor Victory: You win if you start your turn on 40 Family Honor or higher, gaining victory by securing control of the Imperial Court.

Boastful Proclamation: If any other player controls a Personality, then at the start of your next turn, if this province still exists, permanently give it +3 strength and gain 3 Honor. Until your next turn begins, after battle resolution destroys this province, give each Personality in the attacking army a +1F token and the Attacker may draw a card.
