Keywords and abilities Kolat Edition

L5R CCG Rules board, 6 January 2012

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Hello pg 20 of the rule book states "Keywords on abilities no longer apply to the whole card."

I am a little confused by what this means exactly. For Example Suitengu's Torch has the thunder trait and the following abilities: Text Thunder Reaction: After you announce a Thunder Battle action: Its effects will n ot be negated or delayed. Battle: Choose your performing unbowed Personality and target an enemy Personality: Move him home.

If I choose to use the battle ability does it count as a thunder action for the reaction or not?

Also if a thunder personality uses an ability from a spell or item does it count as a thunder action since they are performing it?

Thank you

This change refers to keywords that are directly part of abilites. They do not travel up to the whole card.

Some examples of what this means are: Rugashi Bazaar is not a "Revenge Holding", Doji Shunya is not a "Political Personality", Mirumoto Ichizo is not an "Iaijutsu Personality", and most importantly, Daigotsu Ishibashi is not a "Fear Personality" and has only FIVE countable keywords for Murderous Intent.

So, that's the situation to which the chnage refers. Keywords that are in the keyword section of the card (in your examples) still apply to all the abilities of the card.
