Hey,
Just a quicky on Iron Will, and was not sure if the previous ruling exactly applies.
Iron Will vs. Falling Leaf Strike Falling Leaf Strike Kiho Battle: Target your (performing) unbowed Monk: Move him to the current battlefield. Give a target enemy Personality or Follower -3F. Bow it if its Force is now 0.
Now as previously ruled here by Alex, Iron Will's Reaction does not work retroactively, but this is stated to apply to reacting to optional targeting (Farthest Fortress). The targeting for applying the Force penalty to a Personality or Follower in the case of Falling Leaf Strike is mandatory. Does this change how the interaction works? Will the entire effect (including movement into a battlefield) be negated or does Iron Will not work retroactively at all?
I believe that there may be other cards with which this ruling may apply, so I left the subject line as Iron Will vs. mandatory targeting (I couldn't think of any off the top of my head though). Moderators, feel free to change the subject line if it needs to be changed.
Thanks for your time!

Required targeting always happens during the second step to take an action (see Abilities and actions), whereas optional targeting in the effects block happens during the fourth step (Action resolution). For Falling Leaf Strike, although the word 'target' appears in the middle of the effects block, after the movement, it is still a required targeting so it happens during that second step.
Iron Will is played immediately "after another player targets your Paragon [...]" so indeed this changes how the interaction works. _ For Farthest Fortress, Iron Will is played after the Weapon has already been attached (or not) from the hand to the performing Personality. It only prevents the bowing and to draw a card. _ For Falling Leaf Strike, Iron Will is played before the action resolves, so it negates all its effects: the movement and the Force penalty and the potential bowing.
