Hi,

Can I use "Stength of the Dark one" without any opposing unit at the battlefield ? It should be OK because I do not need to choose any target. If there is an enemy army, then every unit is targeted. But, I prefer to ask.

Card's text : Ritual Battle: Bow this Shugenja and any number of other Shugenja you control in this battle. Every unit in the opposing army is targeted with a Fear effect with a strength equal to the number of Shugenja in the Ritual.

Thanks in advance, Rémi.

Can I use "Stength of the Dark one" without any opposing unit at the battlefield?

No, due to mandatory targeting: "Every unit in the opposing army is targeted..."

So I saw this ruling by Zen.

The term "Every" isn't defined in the rulebook, and it seems there are times when choosing/targeting can be done to select zero things. "Any Number" can be zero.

"Every unit in the opposing army" sounds like a number that can be zero? Or is this a case where there is no army, and the action is therefore not legal to play on that basis?

"All" does not include zero. A cost that refers to affecting "all" of a certain thing requires that one or more of those things is affected.

than to "one or more" or "any number," and so the targeting of at least one enemy unit is required.
