Hi all. I'm new to the game and had a question about using multiple copies of the same card. If I missed this in the rules documents, sorry. If I have more than one copy of the same card that adds or subtracts to another cards stats, do the mulitple copies add up? The only other CCG I've ever played was the old Star Wars game by Decipher. That game had a rule about cards with the same title not giving multiple bonuses to things unless the card specifically contained the word "cumulative" in the description.
Example 1: The holding Strategic Keep says: "Your provinces have +1 strength." So do three Keeps mean +3 strength to each province?
Example 2: Groves of Stone says: "Battle: Even if this unit is not at the current battlefield, bow this Shugenja unless he is Earth: Give the current battlefield's province +4 or -4 Strength." If I have 3 Shugenja with this spell, can I add 12 strength to my provinces? Can I attach two copies of this to one Shugenja and have him use them both on the same province?
Also, I just want to say how refreshing it is to see how helpful everyone in this community seems with stuff like this. I've been lurking here for about a week now and haven't seen any of the petty sniping and flame wars that I have on some other game boards. The local guys I've met have been really cool about explaining stuff to me and even giving me tons of extra cards that they don't play with to help me get started. I knew about the L5R setting from the RPG a long time ago, but only decided to try the card game out recently. I wish I had a long time ago.
