Ring of Water and Strongholds

L5R CCG Rules board, 26 April 2011

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

I imagine that the reason I can't find this answer in the search function is because it is obvious to everyone but me.

Does a battle action taken off a stronghold count towards putting Ring of Water into play?

I ask because of this quote: Effects, costs, and targeting applied to "cards," or referring to a particular keyword that a Stronghold has, do not legally apply to a Stronghold unless they specifically mention the word "Stronghold," or come from the Stronghold itself.

From this thread: viewtopic.php?f=59&t=77506&p=1016488&hilit=stronghold#p1016488

Is the condition related to putting the Ring into play an "effect, cost, [or] targeting applied to cards"?

No. For more information about effects, costs and targeting, see Effects, Costs and restrictions, and Targeting.
