Hida Yiu and bow reaction duration

L5R CCG Rules board, 25 April 2011

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

I tried to search for this card but i couldnt find anything. here is my question.

I am a little unclear as to the actual effect of yiu. here are the possibilities i can think of.

1)yiu comes in during dynasty and bows someone with lower force. His reaction will last until the end of the turn. Since the turn ends right after dynasty, that means immediatly. and then the enemy can straighten during their normal straighten phase. (this means yiu is crap unless he is run out of the berserker stronghold).

2)yiu comes in during dynasty and bows someone with lower force. His reaction will last until it negates a straighten then it will end. in other words yiu can take away 1 straightening phase/straightening for 1 enemy 1 time only.(this means yiu is useful).

3)yiu comes in during dynasty and bows someone with lower force. His reaction will continue until the personality leaves play(over multiple turns). in other words, the targeted personality will never unbow(unless that personality leaves play and comes back in) because his next straightening will always be negated.(this means yiu is THE BEST CARD EVER!)

4)something else(if this is it please elaborate)

Please tell me which one Hida Yiu actually does.

This is the most correct one, but not exactly right.

The duration of the effect is until the targeted Personality leaves play, so it doesn't just last until the end of the turn. Now, the effect is to negate the targets NEXT straightening. Which means only the next one after Yiu does his reaction will be negated, so the effect is only negating whichever 1 straightening that's next and then it's done negating anything..
