A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Does Assate lose its memory ("once per turn") after returning in my hand? Is it possible to use its trait any time per turn?
Weapon • Unique This Personality has a minimum Chi of 5. If he is ever not Ratling, destroy him. Once per turn, after this card enters your discard pile, you may put it in your hand. Battle: If this card is at the current battlefield: Take a number of consecutive Battle and/or Open actions up to the number of different Tribe traits in this army.

Yes (http://rules.l5r.com/CE_Effects#Tracking_rule).
I believe this card predates the tracking rule, before anyone asks why the text and the rules outcome are so obviously contradictory.

I saw this ruliing: viewtopic.php?f=59&t=90088
I was just wondering if the current wording on the Oracle of the Void changes this?
If this Personality is ever not Ratling: Destroy him. Once per turn, after this card enters your discard pile: You may put it face-up in your hand.
I think it should.

The errata to Asatte reverses the above ruling.
