Battle Resolution at 0 Force

L5R CCG Rules board, 17 March 2011

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Hi,

I was rereading the rules when trying to find the answer to a presence-related question, and was surprised not see mention of battle resolutions tied at 0 force.

My group has been playing that if, at battle resolution, both players have 0 force total and at least one unit, nothing happens and everyone goes home.

However, the comprehensive rules seem to imply that such a result would be a tie and everyone would die in the same manner as a tie at a higher force total.

"If both armies have the same total Force and both armies contain one or more units, the battle is a tie. "

Which interpretation is correct?

"If both armies have the same total Force and both armies contain one or more units, the battle is a tie. "

The above is correct. Two opposing armies at 0F at Resolution would both be destroyed, due to the battle being a tie.
