Please offer some clarification regarding the following interaction.
Soon to be defending Player, B uses Open emotion’s open action, showing final duty. Soon to be attacking Player A passes his limited/open phase. Player B uses Daidoji Murata’s ability on province 1 and 2. Player A passes his limited/open phase. Player B passes. Player A declares an attack, assigns his infantry at province 1. Player B assigns his infantry to defend at province 1. No cavalry is assign to any battlefields for either player.
Question: Player A chooses to resolve province 1 first, can Player B play Final Duty using Open Emotion’s action or does Murata negate his ability to do so.
Reasoning: I think Defender does have the ability to play his/her action as per Open Emotion, due to the fact that, unlike Reinforce the Gate’s language, Murata’s text just references that “actions must not be taken before the defender’s first chance to take a battle action or pass.” This seems like Open Emotion is still giving the defender the first opportunity to play final duty.
Follow up Question: If My reasoning is accurate, then after the defender has taken his Open Emotion’d action, the attacker has the opportunity to play his sneak attack, correct? I would think that since defender had the first opportunity to play an action using Open Emotion, then I’d think sneak attack would be able to play since Murata’s conditions had been met.
