So i just played a game where i attacked with a solo kuon and was challenged to a duel (crane SH duel) by my opponent. I figured since it is the first action that targets him that it is negated. However, my opponent said that it still happens. He then proceeded to focus 1 time before i said strike. his focused card was shadows talon, then he resolved shadows talon, and focused shadows talon, then resolved shadows talon and focused inspirational victory. he ended up drawing 3 cards and giving all his army 2force a pop. Does kuon's trait allow him to be dueled? if he is dueled, does the "lasting effects" mentioned in his card include 3 cards and 2 force to each of his guys?
Hida Kuon (Experienced 6) vs first action of a duel
A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.
Assuming the challenge comes from Seawatch Castle's Iaijutsu Battle action, the trait on Hida Kuon (Experienced 6) triggers and the action's effects do not happen, which means that there is no challenge and no duel.
