Reactions

L5R CCG Rules board, 24 January 2011

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Do reactions count as playing a battle action, for example I play a battle action my opponent plays a reactions who would get to play the next battle action?

Do reactions count as playing a battle action(?)

No.

I'm looking to see if I can find someplace in the rules that spells this out more specifically, but I can't find one this instant. The best I got is this:

http://rules.l5r.com/CE_Sequence_of_play#Action_Phase: "Each player in turn order, starting with the active player, has the opportunity to pass or take a legal action, continuing around the table any number of times any number of times until all players pass consecutively. This procedure is known as an action round. It is also used in the Combat Segment and to deal with multiple Reactions to the same trigger (see Timing)."

Notice that Reactions are explicitly mentioned as "outside" the normal action round there.
