Asijin's Legacy + Shinjo Yamauchi

L5R CCG Rules board, 30 November 2010 to 1 December 2010

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Apologies if this has been covered, I did not find it upon searching.

I have Shinjo Yamauchi and Hida Kuon XP6 in an attacking army, Yamauchi is bowed after using his own ability. Can I play Asijin's Legacy targeting Yamauchi and have Kuon perform the ability?

Asijin's Legacy

HEROIC Battle: Choose your performing Personality who is a Hero or an Unaligned Human: Choose one of his base abilities. You may use it a second time this turn. You may take an additional Battle action to use that ability.

Shinjo Yamauchi

Battle: Target your unbowed Personality or Follower, and bow it unless you are a defending player: Ranged Attack with strength equal to its Force.

Also, if I have, say, Hida Benjiro XP2 in a battle bowed, am I able to use Asijin's Legacy to use his duel ability?

Thanks in advance.

No and no.

Asijin’s Legacy only allows you to use the chosen base ability a second time this turn, and to take an additional Battle action to use that ability.

However Asijin’s Legacy does not allow you to ignore the rules about how to use an ability normally, here I am speaking of the rule that says that abilities on bowed cards may not be used (see Abilities and actions).
