I remember a post about playing Phantom Blade Kata and then discarding a card for it's effect counted as two actions for Ring of Void. Does discarding a card for abilities printed on personalities or strongholds count towards ring of void, too?
Ring of Void and Discard Abilities
A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

The search function remembers this post too: see "Ring of the Void Insight Kata". It would have told you that the discarding does not matter. What really matters is the using of two abilities from a Strategy (see the Glossary, From). When you discard a card due to Phantom Blade Kata, you are paying the mandatory cost of an action, taken thanks to the ability that it grants you; this does not "count as" an action, this is an action (see Abilities and Abilities and actions).

No. As written in the linked ruling, Ring of the Void looks for resolved non-Kiho actions from Strategies. Personalities or Strongholds are not Strategies. See card types.
