Claiming the Throne, the text clarification

L5R CCG Rules board, 26 June 2010

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Hi,

Claiming the Throne Before a player's turn ends this game, if the player, during that turn, destroyed a province in battle resolution, put two or more Rings into play by their own text, and gained 7 or more Honor, he may, as costs, discard the Imperial Favor and pay 10 Gold. If he does so, he wins the game.

My questions are: 1. Assuming the event's conditions are fulfilled, in which point of a player's turn does the victory occur? Is this his End Phase? 2. Is the event valid only during the turn it was revealed in a province, or does it remain valid through the rest of the game? 3. How the phrase "Before a player's turn ends this game" should be understood? Is this just a self-dependent "trigger" to which the event relates?

Many thanks.

Claiming the Throne: Assuming the event's conditions are fulfilled, in which point of a player's turn does the victory occur? Is this his End Phase?

"Before a player's turn ends." That's after End Phase (http://rules.l5r.com/CE_Sequence_of_play#End_Phase).

Is the event valid only during the turn it was revealed in a province, or does it remain valid through the rest of the game?

"This game" - the latter.

How the phrase "Before a player's turn ends this game" should be understood?

It's when you can for the "if a player" condition.
