Celestial Legality

L5R CCG Rules board, 12 April 2010

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

I am putting together a Kotei deck and came across something that disturbed me. I have discovered that if the celestial bug is not in the lower left hand corner then the card is not celestial legal. Page 67 of the most resent rules printing(The CE 15 starter rules). The basic rules online also validates lower left corner. The comprehensive rule state that it must have the bug. None of the rules contradict each other. 2 of the 3 are specific on location of the bug and the other is not. With this not being a contradiction, does this then make every celestial edition card printed illegal for play in celestial edition format?

Mod nudge: Don't be a wanker.

All cards you thought were legal, were legal.

The CE15 Flashback cards are NOT legal, as well as any cards printed from Glory of the Empire onward without the Celestial Chinese character in either the lower left or lower right corners of the card.

Promotional cards are legal either on the date printed on the card or with the next set after they are released in English.
