A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

If "the source of a token is an action, the bonus or penalty that the token gives is an effect of that action that created the token." Does that mean we need to keep track of tokens that are created via Traits vs Actions since the Tokens from Traits would not be affected by Justly Earned Victory or Shameful Injury?
ie Tsubo the Drunk vs Liquid Courage or Moto Paisei.
or more likely Togashi Shintaro vs Breath of the Heavens.
I would hate to have to ensure that I ask my opponent which Fire token he removed when performing a Shintaro's battle ability, the one from his Trait, or the one he just created.

Yes, you'll need to keep track of which tokens were created by an action and which were created by a trait.
Sorry.
