A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.
A player, 25 January 2010
Poorly Chosen Allies reads: Limited: Choose a player who has two or more different Clan alignments among Personalities he controls. He loses 3 Honor.
Is it safe to assume unaligned personalities (such as ronin, goblins, undead, oni, etc.) do not count when checking for Clan alignments?

You don't need to assume that, it's true. See Clan Alignment: Legal Clan alignments in Celestial Edition are: * Crab Clan * Crane Clan * Dragon Clan * Lion Clan * Mantis Clan * Phoenix Clan * Scorpion Clan * Spider Clan * Unicorn Clan
No other keywords indicate a Clan Alignment (in Celestial Edition).
