Inexplicable Challenge

L5R CCG Rules board, 14 January 2010

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Hi there!

Is it correct that a Samurai or Courtier can't Seppuku to reduce a loss from this card? The loss seems to be a totally seperate effect, not even pointing to the owner/controller of the targeted personality, but instead chosing a new target for the loss or gain.

Thank you!

No, that is not correct, if you're referring to the default player ability.

http://rules.l5r.com/CE_The_Player#Player_abilities: "Reaction: Any number of times per turn, before you lose Honor from an action that targeted... by one of your Courtier... Personalities...."

It's an action. It targeted a Courtier. You can use the action.
