Isawa Fosuta XP and Honor Victory

L5R CCG Rules board, 23 November 2009

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Our beloved Spider reads: Maho Open: Bow Fosuta: Lose 6 Honor. While Fosuta remains bowed, you may negate his straightening and, at the start of each turn, you may target a Personality and give him a -1F/-1C Curse token. After the next time this game Fosuta straightens or leaves play, destroy all Curse tokens.

Does "at the start of each turn" happen before or after the honor victory condition is checked? From the CR: "At the point when a player’s turn begins (that is, prior to anything triggered "after the turn begins"), if that player has 40 or more Family Honor, he or she wins through an Honor Victory. "

I guess it's "after" but I'd like to have official confirmation.

Both Fosuta's effect and the Honor Victory happen when the turn begins so they conflict. Because there are a delayed effect and a triggered rulebook effect, the active player decides their order; I guess he will usually decide to win first.

Timing, Timing sequence: "B. Anything that is triggered at this point but is not a Reaction happens now. This includes triggered traits, delayed effects, indefinite conditional effects, triggered rulebook effects (such as losing Honor after a dishonourable Personality is destroyed). If more than one of these things conflict, the active player decides the order in which they happen."
