Eternal Armor questions

L5R CCG Rules board, 25 September 2009 to 26 September 2009

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Hi again,

I have an Eternal Armor and its personality was targeted by another player's battle action. Can I now transfer the armor to another personality, for example with Permanent Encampent, and would the opponent then have to discard another card to target that new personality?

If my personality with Eternal Armor is not targeted, but somebody else is, can I redirect the action to the one with the armor, for example with Imperial Command or Deflection? Would he then have to discard a card? If the personality with the armor is targeted first, can I wait for him to discard, and then play Imperial Command or Deflection?

Thanks a lot!

Yes. http://rules.l5r.com/CE_Special_wording ... References: "Attachments with triggered traits... referring to 'this Personality' refer to the Personality the card was attached to at the time when the trait was triggered(.)"

Yes.

Would he then have to discard a card?

Yes.

If the personality with the armor is targeted first, can I wait for him to discard, and then play Imperial Command or Deflection?

No. They are both "would target," and Eternal Armor is triggered "after" targeting. It would always go last.

In reference to viewtopic.php?f=59&t=79323

Specifically to: "Would he then have to discard a card?"

The answer is "Only if he wishes for the action to succeed.", correct?

The opponent could elect to not discard a card, and have the action fail, yes?

thanks, Andrew

That's correct.
