Courage vs Encircled Terrain?

L5R CCG Rules board, 29 August 2009 to 30 August 2009

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Does Courage negate the send home from Encircled Terrain? by my current understanding of the way the combat segment works i'd be inclined to say yes it does. Can anyone confirm this and explain a bit as to why.

thanks in advance, Jeffy

Courage: Battle: Until this battle ends, negate the movement home of your honorable Samurai from other players' cards' effects.

Encircled Terrain: Battle: Before this battle’s resolution, the Attacker and Defender, in the order of your choice, each choose one of their units at the current battlefield. Move all other units there home.

Courage will negate movement until the battle ends. This is after the Combat Segment and after the Resolution Segment - and the delayed effects of Encircled Terrain are applied at the start of the Resolution Segment.
