Eternal Halls of the Shiba

L5R CCG Rules board, 9 April 2009 to 17 April 2009

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Eternal Halls of the Shiba says:

Reaction: Once per turn, after one of your cards successfully casts a Kiho and you discard the Kiho, add the Kiho to your hand. Then discard a card from your hand. You may take this action once per game for each copy of each Kiho.

Once the Kiho is back in your hand, does the stronghold restriction on how many times I can do this still affect the Kiho?

Yes, you are still limited, because the text restricts what you as a player can do, not change anything about the card.

Regarding this : viewtopic.php?f=59&t=75159

The Tracking rule ( http://rules.l5r.com/Effects#Tracking_rule ) says : “Memory” of the status of individual cards ends when the card enters a deck or a hand, or otherwise becomes both face-down and out of play (such as after a card in the deck or hand is shown). This includes dishonorable status, ongoing effects, and whether or not an ability has been used.

So the kiho can be reused the same turn, as the moment it goes up to the hand, it loose memory of having being played that turn.

Am I wrong in my reasoning anywhere?

No, you are correct.

If you recall, this Stronghold was only legal back in the heady days of no-OPT-action-Rule. So, this interaction is as it has always been.

The stronghold refers to copies of cards. I got into a situation where I played a Kiho, used the stronghold ability, putting the Kiho back into my hand. At the end of my turn I drew another copy of the same Kiho and played it during my opponent's turn, using the stronghold ability again to put it back into my hand. Do I have to show my opponent the two copies of the card to verify that I'm not breaking any rules?
