A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

According to this ... viewtopic.php?f=59&t=58057&p=744904&hilit=tempered#p744904 ... i want to ask
WHY ?
the wording of the card is not
by the Gold Cost of THE Personality you removed
it is

Context matters. "Any" is limited to references in the preceding text of the action. The card text has to say "any" there because the preceding text has a "may" in it.
