Death after Life + loyal.

L5R CCG Rules board, 16 March 2009

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

When does the clause "Ignoring restrictions" on Death after Life end? The linked ruling seems to indicate that it lasts past "Bringing the personality into play". Does it end at the end of turn? 'Loyal' seems to be an on-going restriction (or whatever the correct wording is for an ongoing restrictive effect), since the wording on it is "may not be controlled".

Example:

1) I'm playing Spider. 2) I play Death after Life on my opponents Isawa Mizuhiko, who's Phoenix and Loyal. 3) Mizuhiko enters play on my side.

Will Mizuhiko ever "realize his betrayal, even in death" and return to my opponent's discard pile due to being loyal?

thanks, Andrew

If waiving them causes a player you control a Loyal personality, they stay where they are until another effect changes control. There is no rule to return control to another player.
