A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.
My local Crane player was rereading his rulebook and looking at sparrow clan aide.
He fears that sparrow clan aide's trait "gain 1 honor" is a continuous effect, rather than an entering play effect, that is started after the time it enters play and that when the follower is destroied he loses the 1 honor he had.
Is he correct? If so what does this mean for spider clan personalities who do not say "After xxx Enters Play:"

Loss and gain of honor are permanent changes to game state.
See Desperate Plea for a good example of why your friend is incorrect.
Additionally:
http://rules.l5r.com/Card_features#Traits: "For cards that normally enter play (all card types except Actions and Events), a shorthand is used to refer to the common effects of losing or gaining honor from playing the card. The trait “Lose 3 Honor” on such a card is short for “After this card enters play: Lose 3 Honor” and likewise for “Gain 3 Honor.”"
This "shorthanding" of those triggered traits is being phased out for Celestial Edition (though we began doing so even before the dual-bugged sets, if my memory serves). This is why you will find both some cards that have it written this way (such as the Sparrow Clan Aide and older Spider Personalities), as well as newer ones that have it all written out on the card.
